Protecting Your Health

Hello to our lovely tribe! With the recent health crisis that the world is facing I have brainstormed on how to continue to promote health and wellness to our community. At Reverence the well-being of both our students and staff is paramount to me. All of this being said, we have taken extra precautions to ensure we continue to have a healthy thriving tribe.

At the studio we have put measures in place of hand soap, extra tissues and mat sanitizer for all of our students and staff to use. We strongly encourage good hygiene practices of hand washing, properly disposing of any used tissues, the washing/sanitizing of yoga mats and other accessories. All of our props, light switches and door knobs are disinfected daily. We have kindly asked our staff to stay home if they are not feeling well and we would appreciate that our students exercise the same practice.

We are known for our warm and inviting environment and we all enjoy the occasional Savasana adjustment with essential oils or a physical assist in our yoga practices. To keep this environment in tack we have asked our instructors to take extra care in asking permission for any adjustment prior to performing or kindly announce to our students at the beginning of class if they choose not to adjust. This in no way means safety of our student is sidelined. We absolutely will continue to guide and lead our students through their yoga journeys with props and modifications to safely practice.

Just a couple of tips:

Diet

Now, I’m no dietitian and I don’t want to sound like your mom, but eat your veggies! Keep your immunity up. Adding great immune boosters like a little more garlic, ginger or turmeric is a wonderful way to keep our immune systems strong. Maybe give that green juice you’ve been eyeing in the grocery store a try? Hydration is also key. Some of us love our morning coffee or tea which is such a great way to start the day however let’s not forget our bodies are made up of water and thus we require a lot of it to stay hydrated. Some of us have a harder time with water, being one of them, I suggest throwing in some fresh fruit or cucumber to spice things up a bit.

Anxiety Management

In times like these anxiety can be elevated. This is where the good old fashions deep breath comes into play. It’s hard to stop the heart from racing when we find ourselves wrapped up in the news reels and find yourself on that negative downward spiral. Remember, you can come to your practice ANYWHERE…even in your car during rush hour traffic. Draw your breath in and send it deep into your belly, as far as you can go. Allow the air to fill your lungs and draw up into your chest. Hold it for two or three beats and then slowly allow for the breath to release. A few good deep breaths has always been such a great reset for me. I encourage everyone to try it sometime when in distress or heck even when you’re just wanting to find a little more space in your beautiful lungs.

Interested in learning more about breathwork? Our talented Nichole Gregory is leading us through a breathwork workshop, Saturday, March 21st, 1:00PM- 3:00PM. Join us in this wonderful experience.

And lastly, always remember to smile. Sending you all my love & healthy wishes, see you on the mat!

Namaste- Ali
